ELECTRONIC VOTING SYSTEM
Automatic system for controlling and monitoring the voting process developed by Zof Electro LTD egeneering team and it's based on a legitimate need to manage process of conducting meetings in the municipalities, at conferences and in any other place where you need to be done transparently and the presence of high-quality recording, the determination of a quorum, exposure monitoring, tracking replicas, record, voting, reports ...
ELECTRONIC VOTING SYSTEM
The system is organized as a multipoint network of microprocessor controlled devices (voting terminal) that are controlled from one place (server) Figure
All voting terminals are connected to the server via the multiplexer, which in addition to conditioning the lines of communication has the role of power distribution to the voting terminal. Power to voting terminals (low voltage 12 volts) is derived from the Power Over Ethernet standard.
Multiplexer performs signal conditioning from the server by voting district and voting power units. The server is connected via a USB 2.0 interface that provides sufficient bandwidth for data transfer.
The server is implemented as a PC that is running the Linux operating system (Fedora Core). The server runs an application that controls the flow of the session chairman. Using the application is easy and intuitive (if it is necessary to start voting, you need to click a button on Voting and the system automatically counts the number of presence, triggering a voting, "read" the results, displays them on screen and the wall panel).
Block diagram of the system is given in Figure.
ELECTRONIC VOTING SYSTEM
DESCRIPTION OF BASIC COMPONENTS OF THE SYSTEM
1. CENTRAL UNIT (SERVER)
This is a component of realised as a PC compatible computer, which unites the following functions:
SQL database with a history of voting.
Communication with voting terminals through the communication interface
Application to conduct the session. The server is installed FC11 Linux operating system under which the Chairman executes applications that control the flow of the session
Using the application is easy and intuitive (if it is necessary to start voting, you need to click a button and the system still VOTING automatically counts the number of presence, triggering a vote, "read" the results, displays them on screen and wall-mounted display and a true statement). All commands to control the arbitrary language (Serbian, Croatian, Macedonian, Bosnian ...) as needed.
2. VOTING TERMINAL
ELECTRONIC VOTING UNIT is device mounted on the bench and it is a microprocessor based hardware that provides a comfortable and intuitive interface to the councilor (Figure). It is connected via two RJ45 connectors that provide easy replacement of units if needed. The front panel has several indicators. Two of them are connected to RF card reader, and signals that the card is accepted (green LED) or declined (red LED). Keys (3 pieces) to vote (for, against, abstentions) with associated LED indicators If all LEDs izgašene - terminal is not operational, if they are all lighted - Voting is underway and if one is lit - this is the last choice of representatives. If ID card is not in place - the light is just a red LED that indicates that no one is logged on to the polling station. The voting terminals are connected to the server via the multiplexer, which in addition to conditioning the lines of communication has the role of power distribution to the voting terminal.
3. Power supply
Power to šalterkim terminals (low voltage 24VDC) is derived from the power over ethernet stamdardu. All have the same voting district in the way of connecting and functioning so that the eventual replacement, for whatever reason, can easily do. Physically, the power supply is located in the communication interface.
4th COMMUNICATION INTERFACE
Multiplexer performs signal conditioning from the server by voting district and voting power units. The server is connected via a USB2.0 interface that provides enough bandwidth for real-time processing.
5th Display unit
The voting results, the presence of MPs, individual and cumulative voting investigative findings are presented on a large display which can be one or more. The large display can be implemented:
LED display with large figures and pre-defined layout that displays data.
AS A SYSTEM WITH PLASMA TV and LCD screens (dimensions on request)
TV AS A SYSTEM WITH VIDEO PROJECTOR
System with TV monitors typically contain 1-4 monitors, mounted on the walls of rooms, on separate consoles, which allow adjusting the direction and angle of the monitor. Monitor size depends on the size of the rooms and the desire of investors, ranging from 27 - 42 ". In this monitor, recommended the setting up of a small diagonal monitors 17-19" on which the Chairperson.
If necessary, it is possible to connect the appropriate number of monitors and other ancillary facilities, such as a press room, halls, restaurants and others. They all show the same signal from the video distribution system.
